The DA conversion unit is configured to generate an arbitrary n-th harmonic and superimpose the arbitrary n-th harmonic on an analog output signal including the existing n-th harmonic. In some embodiments, a rotary valve is loaded with the standard gas, and the valve is brought into fluid communication with the flow path of the carrier gas when the vessel port is within the vessel. The method can be adapted to study the temperature dependence of the molecular interaction.
