A process and system for substantially eliminating contaminants from a gas and a gas produced therefrom. In a preferred embodiment of the method of the invention, direct sequencing of RNA can be performed using one polymerase having a Tabor-Richardson mutation, or a functional derivative thereof, and reverse transcriptase activity. It unloads these signals for viewing on a computer. In a second embodiment, no anchor bits are required.
