In particular, the invention relates to the use of kombic acid as an antioxidant in the treatment of cancer, the inhibition of proliferation of cells, and in lowering levels of cholesterol both in vivo and in vitro. The inorganic material may include calcium phosphates of varying phases, structure, and composition.
