An enzymatic method is provided for treating ophthalmic disorders of the mammalian eye. In one illustrative embodiment, the invention comprises a system and method for using image input in conjunction with wireless transmission to increase personal safety. The composition of this invention includes nisin at a level effective for inhibiting growth of the spoilage-causing microorganisms, particularly, hardier strains of such microorganisms that may exhibit resistance to lower levels of nisin.
