A method for forming a gap of a width which meets selected tolerance limits includes forming sidewalls in a microstructure, the sidewalls defining a gap therebetween. For normally distributed datasets, transformation may be achieved by general additive data perturbation, followed by generating a normalized perturbed value of the confidential attribute using a conditional distribution of the confidential and non-confidential attribute. This, in turn, reduces the number of Java instructions that are executed by the interpreter.
