A simplified method for forming a pad electrode without using an additional light-irradiation device is disclosed. The system includes a collection chamber housing defining an interior space, the collection chamber housing having a gas inlet, a gas outlet, and an opening. This method is useful in suppressing noise in two and four-component ocean bottom cable data.
