A method of monitoring Central Nervous Shunt performance by sampling non-invasive data from a patient with hydrocephalus condition. Two groups of preferred peptides are derived from the antibiotics protegrin and tachyplesin. In constructing the device, a jig may be used for positioning the pivots. Also provided are kits for practicing these methods.
