The data packets with a maximum allowable delay and an average packet rate are aggregated in a node of the network of a burst and the burst is transmitted with a number of packets. In one implementation, frequency data may be patched in to a first scan, such as an axial scan, from a second scan, such as a helical scan. Likewise, the storage device manages storage device configuration information in the data management layer of the communication model, and communicates the storage device configuration information to the host by one or more data communication layers of the communication model.
