The specification discloses a server system implementing hot pluggable memory boards in an architecture using X86 processors and off-the-shelf operating system, such as Windows\xae or Netware, which do not support hot plugging operations. The data readout method allows reading data recorded in an optical disk by irradiating a laser beam onto the optical disk. At least one of the plurality of optical components is moveable in a first degree of freedom; such movement simultaneously altering the effective optical path length of the laser cavity and the tuning frequency of the spectral tuning element. One computer program product includes executable portions for performing the above method.
