The present invention is directed to cellular devices comprising a collagen matrix, cell layer, and gelled alginate layer, processes for producing the devices, methods of implanting the devices, and methods of treatment thereof. A crosslinkable polymer composition comprises a curable base polymer resin in a liquid or paste form, and a particulate thermoplastic filler. The panel and bead are heated preferably by applying shortwave and longwave infrared radiation, with the shortwave infrared radiation being applied to an adhesive free side of the panel to heat the panel and, thereby, indirectly heat the bead of the heat activated adhesive.
