A magnetic field applicator system wherein a plurality of magnets are generally fixed within an applicator base, each of the plurality of magnets having a magnetic axis at an angle different to other magnets in the plurality of magnets. The core has a plate shape and includes a wide core base part onto which the light is incident, a taper part that is connected to the core base part and of which a width is gradually tapered along a propagation direction, and a narrow front end core part that is connected to the taper part and that extends along the propagation direction. For example, in one embodiment, the frames intended for non-interlaced display may be preserved in size for display in the same frame format on a lower resolution interlaced display.
