Mapping computer resources to consumers in a computer system is described. The material comprises a laminated structure having as an integral part thereof one or more layers of viscoelastic material which also functions both as a glue and as an energy dissipating layer; and one or more constraining layers, such as gypsum or cement-based panel products modified for easy fracture. It is applicable to optical amplifiers based on rare earth amplifier media, such as erbium doped fiber amplifiers. The method is simple and cheap and gives rise to a maltose of high purity and to a cheap limit dextrin useable as a fat replacer in foods.
