The blend polymer membranes described in the current invention are prepared by heat treatment of blend polymer membranes comprising aromatic polyimides containing ortho-positioned functional groups such as \u2014OH or \u2014SH groups. The invention is comprised of an injection well or wells that extend into a contaminated groundwater.
