Disclosed is method of controlling an asymmetric waveform generator including the steps of providing a reference timer signal, and generating an asymmetric waveform as a combination of a first sinusoidal wave having a first frequency and a second sinusoidal wave having a second frequency approximately twice the first frequency. This graded phase change produces a graded displacement response of the shape memory element. At least one cylindrical roller from two adjacent cylindrical rollers is rotated about its axis by a drive system, the distance between two adjacent cylindrical rollers being less than or equal to the diameter of a cylindrical container, such that the cylindrical surface of said container can bear on the cylindrical surface of two adjacent cylindrical rollers. Synchronization instruction information is set individually for the individual data in the read control memory or the message memory, and only when an external synchronizing signal is present when data to be signaled for an individual channel us to be read out, the address read out by the read controller is used as an address for the message memory. Accordingly, sensor’s response may be generated to result in higher gains at low light levels and progressively lower gains at the higher light levels.
