The present invention describes dual-modality probes. The present invention preferably provides one or more tactile sensor devices that may be operatively coupled with a robot or positioned at one or more desired locations within a work environment of the robot. A radio frequency identification interface interacts with RFID readers using the multi-function radio frequency interface, and a configuration interface to allow a user to configure the monitoring device also uses the multi-function radio frequency interface. Thus, it is possible to obtain a shift register which performs discharge of a node and pull-down of an output signal and achieves a small area and low power consumption without using an output signal from a subsequent circuit.
