A light weight brake assembly for bicycles is disclosed. The system utilizes a single, integrated device to provide all Packet Cable-compliant functionality, including enhanced user privacy, compliance with CALEA, E911 and other mandated services not available in conventional distributed Packet Cable systems. A Funnel-shaped, closed light guide structure is provided, which guides or conducts the light from the LED to the sensor surface or shield against the environment.
